Columbia Basin Watershed Network Hires New Coordinator

The Columbia Basin Watershed Network (CBWN) recently hired Karen Nickurak of Invermere a new coordinator to help guide the work of this Basin-wide initiative.

Karen brings expertise in project management, social marketing and communications in the environmental management field. She is experienced in working with different levels of government, academia, the private sector, volunteers and non-profit organizations.

Karen will work with the Watershed Network’s steering committee to achieve a number of priorities to the further growth and development of the Columbia Basin Watershed Network. In the short-term Karen will work to:
- expand and diversify the membership base and the steering committee;
- further develop the website to provide essential watershed information and education resources;
- organize a fall symposium;
- develop plans to communicate with local watershed groups; and
- work with local watershed groups to develop a needs assessment.

The CBWN is an important networking and information sharing organization that can support local watershed groups.

CBT is committed to working with Basin residents to improve their understanding of and involvement in water issues. The Columbia Basin Watershed Network is one of several water stewardship projects funded and delivered by CBT. In addition to water stewardship, CBT’s is delivering work related to water quality, water quantity, water governance and trans-boundary water issues. CBT delivers economic, social, and environmental benefits to the residents of the Columbia Basin.
