Climate Change in the Columbia Basin

Expected changes in temperature and precipitation will mean changes for you and your community. Columbia Basin Trust (CBT) has made it a priority to help Basin residents understand climate change and how the predicted changes will impact you, your family, and your community.

CBT is taking action on Climate Change by:

  • Working with communities to help them plan how they will adapt to climate change
  • Helping elected officials understand ways to reduce their carbon footprint and emissions
  • Producing science-based, technical research documents to help residents understand what climate change will mean for the Columbia Basin and translating them into plain language
  • Hosting this climate change webpage that will respond to the information needs of residents. Check out the great online resources

The climate of the Columbia Basin already is, and will continue to, influence local water resources. Changes in local glaciers, river and stream flows, and precipitation patterns mean changes to our water sources. CBT has a mandate to work with residents of the Columbia Basin on key water issues and climate change has been identified as a key issue.

   Communities Adapting to Climate Change
The Columbia Basin Trust supports efforts by the people of the Basin to create a legacy of social, economic
and environmental well-being and to achieve greater self-sufficiency for present and future generations.
