CURRENTS:
A Report On The Columbia Basin Trust Youth Water Forum
Columbia Basin Trust held its first Youth Water Forum CURRENTS from September 25-27 in Golden, bringing together over 40 youth from around the Basin to learn about water issues in communities and to learn how to take action to improve and protect water values in the Basin.
"The goal of CURRENTS was to identify water issues and topics that are of interest to youth and raise awareness about the importance of water amongst youth," said Heather Mitchell, CBT Program Manager, Water Initiatives. "The event definitely fulfilled both of these goals with youth having the opportunity to network with peers, meet water experts and add to their skills and knowledge through hand-on activities. I believe they will be able to use this experience to further their actions on water issues in their communities."
CBT asked Basin residents: What does the Columbia Basin mean to you? Lisa from Invermere submitted this photo and answered:
"The Basin to me is all that is peaceful.
It is all that is wild and pristine.
It is the epitome
of tranquility."

Read about the event and find out about four new youth-lead grants that CBT Water Initiatives will be funding this year, as a direct outcome of this forum. ...more
